NutriBiotic Vegan Rice Protein
Mixed Berry flavor

I've had bad luck with berry flavored protein powders, but was pleasantly surprised by this. It has more of a berry aftertaste than anything else.

Trader Joes Sausage Patties
[info]babycrust
After eating Trader Joe's vegan sausage patties I won't go back to other brands. They seem to have a lot more flavor than fake patties usually do. Maybe it's because they're less sausage-like: they're more squishy and less hard and not as brown/burnt looking as some brands. Oddly filling too. They're very small but since I enjoy them so much I feel content with just eating one or two.

As a warning though... the same day I bought them for the first time I also bought some Tofutti brand "dairy free" blintzes. Turns out they are not vegan. There's no milk in the cream cheese filling, but the crepes are made with egg whites.

is corona vegan?

can anyone tell me if corona is vegan or not? i can't find it on any vegan beer lists. i can't even find it on the lists that tell you "vegan," "vegetarian," AND "not suitable." thanks, i appreciate it.

LARAbar, MorningStar Meal Starters Steak
Girls On Film
[info]suburbangothic
LARAbars are raw vegan and have under six ingredients per item. My favorite is cherry pie with its tanginess and slight crunch from the mellowing almonds. They seem small and potentially unfulfilling with the $1.30 price tag, but I get into how complex yet simple their tastes are and savor each bite. I get a bit of a sugar rush though the website says the bar does not raise blood sugars significantly. If you like soft dried fruits without overpowering sweetness, give them a try.
I'm enjoying a Morningstar Farms Mealstarters steak strip sammich as I type. The trick to these meat fakes is to pan fry them in a little bit of canola or olive oil until crisp on both sides, drain onto a paper towel, then serve immediately. Otherwise they'll be mushy and weird. Crispy steak strips taste just like the gross pot roast my mom would make, but I can stomach this vegan version. Try it on a whole grain or sourdough roll with mustard or BBQ sauce, with stir fry veggies or broccoli over brown rice or couscous or as a fajita. Might be good with vegan gravy inside a baked potato, too.

Lightlife's 'Smart Bacon.'
Yummy! Greatly recommended. It doesn't have the texture of actual bacon, but it makes a pretty good meat subsitute. Just a heads-up.

Athenos Red Pepper Hummus
[info]babycrust
I've never tried any Athenos hummus before today, but their red pepper hummus definitly does not taste like hummus... nor red peppers. Rather, it tastes like a cheap refried bean and cheese dip. That being the case, it may be possible to fool non-vegans if you have to provide snacks for a mixed taste party...

My daughter has been doing well since making the switch, but she says her strongest craving is pepperoni. Can you recommend a good vegetarian pepperoni alternative? how about one that can be sliced onto a pizza, for example, and take a little heat?

Thanks~~
